i figured id start a new thread based on what me and Nick were talking about earlier today, he was saying that Joe, nick, nigel, and comp. were hoping that one of the things they could get out of this is a flow of ideas, input, and crowd pleasing ;D, i was was just wondering and this goes for everyone what are your favorite things about joes videos, what makes ya inspired to come to the WZPMB to talk to them, other than the charisma , do you have any input, and for Joe and company, is this a shared hope with nick or did i just make a random thread, this is going to be one of those learn about you posts, who or what inspires those of you to make videos, i know that its different for everyone, and im going to stop talking before i ramble much more. soooo whats everyone think

as blacklance was saying, one of the hopes of this board (other than the hours of ridiculous conversation), is to open the lines of communication with people who watch our videos.
Youtube offers feedback via comments, but a message board could lead to much more discussion, even long before the video has been made.
and its not just for our videos. there's lots of people on here that make videos as well. feel free to discuss your video ideas with the masses.
i have a feeling that discussion on this board will "accidentally" lead to good video ideas. read our past stuff, it already has.
Joe's video of himself and Jason getting trashed, then Jason shitting on a tree... there's a thread on here of them rambling drunk about that night on here while it was happening...
My Freebird video, same thing.
you all get the idea. i'll get off my soapbox. talk amongst yourselves...

I'd have to say that the thing that keeps me coming back to the Wazoo crew is that they have this ambition to make entertaining movies/videos that are either spawned from completely original ideas or are spur of the moment things. And the fact that they follow through with their inspirations and ideas is very admirable to me.
For example, if I was to say, "Hey, come watch this video. It's of a group of friends getting drunk," one might say, "Why would I watch that?" But if only those people knew the chemistry and interactions that happen between these four young gentlemen. No matter what they do, it always ends up being entertaining.
When they aren't together, their videos tend to be more like personal diaries or journals caught on video. This is far from a bad thing. For instance, you wouldn't think a video of a young man lying on the couch being sicker than a dying dog would be very funny, yet it is.
Their original movie ideas are another area where they shine. Their video "The Business," for example, is a very simple concept. It's a video under five minutes long about a guy being chased and murdered in a parking structure. Very simple, yet completely effective. It makes you laugh and I'm sure there are some that it may strike fear into. (Seriously, what would you do if someone like Nigel popped out of nowhere and chased you with a butcher's knife? I'd shit myself.)
The way the four open up their lives to us and share their ideas through this digital/analog medium is quite astounding and worth experiencing.

alex, you're a good kid. you win a No-Expense-Paid trip down to New Orleans to hang out with us, redeemable anytime.
and as an added bonus, while you're down, i'll even go as far as to buy you a Pabst Blue Ribbon at Le Bon Temps...
Le Bon Temps should really be our Cheers why is it not?

Agreed. This board could be a bastion of new ideas, creativity, input, and general awesomeness. There are a ton of creative-minded people here who could feed off of each other.
When I started making videos, I wanted to create a strange little world, where it was obvious that it was reality, but somehow ... distorted. The other day I was looking back and wasn't sure whether the reason I prefer my older videos is because they're actually BETTER ... or for nostalgia reasons. I think a little bit of both, actually.
When I first joined Youtube, it was this amazing thing where you could do ANYTHING and it seemed so liberating and full of potential. There was an audience there, just waiting to be touched. But, as time has gone by, I've gotten jaded, the community sense has waned, most of the friends I made that made me want to stay have long since left, and the magic has faded.
Used to be that I couldn't WAIT to make another Youtube video. Now, it seems like goddamn homework, and I can scarcely force myself to do one.
I'm hoping we'll spark some magic here and that'll change. I miss the joy. When making a video felt like Christmas morning. I know for a fact my lack of enthusiasm shows there. I don't even like most of my more recent videos, so I don't know why anyone else would.

Oh, and as a PS, since the reply wasn't there when I started typing .... I agree. Alex, you're a champion.
If ever you find yourself NOLA way, we're taking you under our wing and howling at the moon. The absinthe will be on me.
And Nick .... Le Bon Temps IS our Cheers. You know it's sad when even the creepy regulars know US by name.

someone had to get this ball rolling i think its a good idea to have a board for your fan base to help you know what your audiance is, weither it be creepy people you've never talked too who know your name, or the people who hate the internet but for some reason have entered the world of only internet people, sometimes funny ideas can just come from learning who your fan base is. i dunno. i think its a good plan and i hope it executes well.

What you hit on: Y'all keep the topics simple and your humor keeps it positive. Nothing is ever convoluted and it's always entertaining. Some o' the shit y'all encounter could only occur among old friends. It makes viewers feel like they're in on an inside joke. It feels personal that way.
As far as fresh ideas...maybe take the show on the road a little? Perhaps y'all could take a trip to somewhere cold, where there's snow, and see what happens. You know, see to what extent you can take the boys out of NOLA or NOLA out of the boys. Or have you already done that? I get the feeling there's volumes of content I have no clue about. Or maybe just plant a discreet video camera outside your front door and setup some kind of booby trap for that crazy chic while she's tryin' to break into your place shit-faced.

We've actually wanted to do more road trip stuff and have discussed possible locations. None with snow yet, but I dig that idea. Road trips are my lifeblood. Too bad it costs more to do it these days than it would to buy a floating mansion. We may be going to the Smokey Mountains in the winter, though. We plan on shooting much footage. We're hoping it gets interesting.

I've been subscribed to Mr. Cardosi since late 2006, & the energy, creativity, savvy, & variety being cranked out of that channel was instantly apparent, & has never waned.
As time's gone by, alot of content providers I grew fond of have dropped out, faded away, lost their gusto (my appetite for posting videos of my own is long since diminished). Mr. Cardosi's allusions to weariness of YouTube recently seemed inevitable, however was disappointing. But I understood; As 2006 became 2008 & YT grew from 500K to 3.5 million accounts, the quality of the audience did not improve in proportion to the quantity. The topical, sensationalistically vapid schtick-meisters began to see the most "success" on YT (I understand the NOLA crew was not seeking e-fame), & audiences pulled from MySpace cults & curiosity seekers fueled by Jay Leno doing a "Look what we found on YouTube!!" piece would not benefit NOLA's cause on YT.
Anyway, I'll jump ahead & just say I couldn't not check out this resurrected message board after hearing the invitation. As opposed to attempting to drive traffic via YT video to a cafe press site or omnipresent paypal button as is commonplace, the invitation was to just hang out on a message board & rap.
Just another case of you gentlemen in the NOLA crew proving that the internet works for you, not the other way around.
OK, I've paid my hyper-sincerity dues for the month.
Cheers

Haha, thank you! I look forward to it. Maybe if I land this job I'm about to go apply for in a little bit I'll have some extra cash by the time I'm 21. Which I will then use to hop on the train and head south for a short vacation.

I also became hip to the NOLA Crew around late 2006. While the hilarious and creative videos were the main reason I watched at first, the community aspect of the whole thing began to fascinate me as well. You guys actually inspired me to start posting videos.
Of course I never was able to conjure up a non lame-ass way to participate (read: I was too much of a pussy to be bold.) I did leave a few comments on videos, but as Nick said, the comments section of a video isn't really the optimal place to start a discussion. All the comments I did leave always felt cheap.
The videos I posted on my channel were ultimately unsatisfying because I censored myself. I guess self-censorship is the consequence of wanting to be liked by all (which at the time is what I was going for.) After a while I did somewhat become a part of a community, just not the kind I was hoping for. A community of "safe" YouTubers. The group was nice and all but they weren't really my kind of folks per say, and nothing very interesting ever took place. So I left for while. I still watched videos, but I didn't participate for a long time.
When I saw Joe's "Join us!" video last night I thought cool, another chance at participation! So here I am. Thanks for the invitation Joe.
Forgive me for the long-winded sermon. I've had a lot to say for a long time with no place to put it down.

I thought about making a similar "I hate the NewTube" thread here the other day. There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said. There was a time where the filth that covered YouTube was greatly outnumbered by the ones willing to wash it away. It was like, the poison of stupidity was diluted by all the good that surrounded it. Now, the ratio has unfortunately shifted. Truth is: The internet (YouTube being a big part of that internet) is like the dump. Every once and a while, you'll stumble across something that's really entertaining, but for the most part, the rest of it is just garbage. And as for the Wazoo crew, well they're like the delusional group of hobos that once given a bottle of $8 wine, not only entertain themselves, but anyone who cares to face their fears and join the party. (Just kidding guys, I've got nothin but love. ) EDIT: I just realized, I really like metaphors...

Hey, now. Don't knock the $8 bottles of wine. I've been known to KILL some "Little Penguin" Cabernet. Just sayin'. Youtube has seemingly turned into just more bad television for the ADD generation. Gimmicky wannabes with some hyper-topical angle bending over with both cheeks spread for attention. It's a goddamn shame. And kuhlbreeze, I'm glad you're here. After a while, it became tough to integrate into the Youtube community. The sense of fellowship waned and people seemed to stop paying attention to one another. I know I'm guilty of it, too. I stayed in my little subscription bubble and never ventured outside of it. Don't beat yourself up about it for playing it safe. Chances are, it would've been tough no matter how censorship-free and out there you may have been. Fret not. You're not surrounded by the "safe" here. You're surrounded by pirates, dregs, lepers, and the generally unclean. You'll need to take a "Crying Game" shower in no time. Welcome!
