Chemicals started a thread for the worst song ever. Now it's time to talk about the most depressing song ever.
My vote is for K's Choice - Not an addict
I heard the song when I was a teenager but had totally forgotten about it until about two years ago. I became terribly addicted to it and that meant hours upon hours of playing this song nonstop. Hmm how do I say I liked the state it put me in before writing anything so I might appear as a "normal" person?

Contrary to my typical thoughts on Radiohead's music, "Everthing in its Right Place" tops my chart of most depressing music. Just the sound of sucks the life energy right o' me. It makes me want my mommy.

I'm gonna have to say "Asleep" by The Smiths. If that song doesn't at least make you CONSIDER the various methods of offing yourself, you've got a soul of pure iron. Don't get me wrong .... I love the song. But, then again, I'm the type of guy who doesn't mind spending an evening just staring into the void every now and then.

For me? Probabaly "The Downward Spiral" from Nine Inch Nails. The song off of the same titled album. . . . That and...maybe...Randy Newman's "Short People."

I am positively afraid to check out the items listed by you guys...
I'd have to go with Dead Can Dance's version of "The Wind That Shakes the Barley", followed by "Makes Me Wanna Die" by Tricky (more melancholy than depressing)

This one's tough.. but The Cure does depressing pretty exceptionally. My vote is for Disintegration.
To off-set the sadness... A.M. 180 by Grandaddy never fails to make me smile, whenever I hear it.
